What can cause a yeast infection in men?

Yeast infections occur in men for roughly the same reasons they do in women, except it’s "harder" for men to get yeast infections.

UTI or yeast infection?

Okay, so, about a week ago, I started treatment for a yeast infection. i used the monistat 3, and after two days, everything seemed cleared up. then, it started to burn when i urinated again. i’m ovulating, so there is discharge, but it seemed to look normal, and there was no strong scent. there was a very slight underlying scent of yeast, but i know yeast is natural in the vagina, and so i didn’t know if that was a normal scent in ovulating discharge or not. there was no itching, the discharge seemed normal, and there was no strong odor. but there was still that burning. sunday night, i used miconazole 7 because they didn’t have monistat 7 at meijers. it burned like crazy, so i didn’t use any the next night because i wanted to see how i would feel without the medication. still, no scent, normal ovulating discharge, but there’s that burning. then i noticed i felt the need to pee after i had just urinated, and if i focus, i can kinda pinpoint the burning just a tad higher than my vaginal opening. i’ve had UTI’s before, so i’m starting to think that may be it, and i heard some yeast infections can cause UTI’s. so, my question is, do you think this has turned into a UTI? should i still use the miconazole 7, or do you think it’s safe to just start using AZO and treat myself for that? i have big plans coming up so i don’t have any time to go to the doctor’s until after this weekend.
whoops. at the beginning, i meant after two days AFTER finishing the monistat 3. so i took that for three nights, then two days passed and yadda yadda.

Def. a UTI. AZO may help but you may need antibiotics. I had a UTI and tried to only use the AZO and it worked for a while, but I had to go to the doctor in the end because it just got worse! So see ur doctor, and I wish you painless urination!! LOL

What is a good diet to combat chronic yeast infections?

You want to eat plenty of yogurt as well as cut out most sugars, you do want to keep your sugars from fruit, also try to stay away from alot of foods that have alot of yeast in them, I have a high yeast count in my body and this is what I was told form my doctor. As Well, (may seem a bit uncomfortable) place some yogurt down there the culture helps to fight the yeast!!!!

Anyone have chronic yeast infections with Yaz or Yasmin BCP’s?

I have been on Yaz for almost a month now. Within the first week I developed a yeast infection. I saw my ob/gyn and have now taken 2 rounds of Diflucan, a seven day (vaginal) prescription treatment, and now another vaginal treatment that is one dose (still waiting to see if that one helps). I recall getting chronic yeast infections while taking Yasmin several years ago, although at the time I didn’t see the connection. I’m wondering if it has anything to do with the hormone DRSP which is found in Yaz/Yasmin.

Anyone have the same problem? Were you able to tollerate any other BCP’s? I am interested in Loestrin 24, for the possibilty of short, light, or no periods. Also, the 24 active pills are supposed to decrease symptoms of PMS. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
