Chronic yeast infections from switch in birth control pills?

Hello, I have had a yeast infection on and off for a month and a half now. I believe I have figured out the cause. My pharmacy recently switched my birth control pills (ortho tricyclerin lo) that I was on for 8 months with NO problems whatsoever to tri lo sprintec. Within 3 weeks after beginning the new kind of pills I got a yeast infection and got a script for diflucan. This cleared it up. Then I started my period and the week after, when I began taking the pills that contain the hormones again, I got another yeast infection. I took diflucan again and it went away for a week and now its back. I am very frustrated because these yeast infections keep coming back.

I also am afraid to have sex because I never know when its going to flair up again and I do not want to pass it to my boyfriend, since we do not use condoms. I know that he does not have it and is not passing it back to me because I got the yeast infection back again already and have not even had sex with him since clearing up the last one. Why would this be happening from the switch in birth control pills? Could I be allergic? (Also, I am 100% positive that these are yeast infections because I had a full std screen 2 weeks ago and I am completely clean.)

yes! it is possible and sometimes it can happen!!

+ if you have yeast infection then you must get rid of it as soon as it is possible!!!

if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips – they worked for me:

Go Here To Learn More About Candidiasis/Yeast Infection

1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.

2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.

3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.

4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent.

5) also you should use some herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again!
And of course it is better if you use full course (5 months – if I remember correctly). For me it worked very fast + I dont get yeast infections anymore (almost 2 years) …

Do I have trichomoniasis or a yeast infection?

November 19, 2010 by
Filed under Yeast infections in men

Ever since I had strep throat & had to take antibiotics, I’ve been having female problems. I’ve had a lot of discharge, at first it had no smell but then later it started smelling, so much now that I feel like I can smell it while fully clothed sitting at my desk. It’s not a horrible smell, just strong and doesn’t seem to be a fishy smell. It’s thick, yellow, and whitish. It doesn’t seem to be frothy, just kind of thick. The rest of my vulva area gets very dry, like the skin is dry and it hurts to wipe when I pee and it’s uncomfortable to have sex.

I’m going to go to the doctor I guess although I really don’t want to because I’m embarrassed because trichomoniasis is an std, I believe and plus the discharge looks and smells kinda gross.

Does or can my husband have it? Should he get checked? Can men get yeast infections?

Also what would happen if I left it untreated? Would it go away or would it get worse?

I’m pretty embarrassed about these questions. Thanks in advance.

yes men can get trich, its just hard for them to notice it, most men dont have any symptoms. You usually start seeing symptoms in women in between 4-28 days of initial infection. You can get trich alot of ways, even usuing someones towel who has it. If it goes untreated it can turn to pelvic inflammatory disease which is strong abdominal cramps and back pain and is dangerous. Go get checked ive had it before and it was embarrassing, i had the same symptoms as you. Also your man has to get treated too because he will have it and keep giving it back to you

There is probably more misinformation about yeast infections and candida albicans than almost any health topic. Yeast diets, candida diets, along with special herbal formulas for combating yeast and candida infections abound. Yet after 30 years in the nutrition field, we have found very few of these to be effective. Research shows that women, following yeast diets and candida diets, obtain some relief from their symptoms, yet as soon as they go off the restricted diet, their yeast infection and candida symptoms return almost immediately. The only substance ever shown to actually destroy the candida and yeast organism on contact is oxygen. Oral oxygen has proven to be very effective in eliminating yeast infections and candida. Candida diets do not eliminate candida or yeast. Candida diets help reduce the symptoms of candida or yeast, but will not cure the problem. When oral oxygen is used candida diets become unnecessary.

Buffered oral oxygen is the only safe way to raise the oxygen levels, but you must take the right formula in order for it to be safe and effective. The Institute of Nutritional Science offers a formulation, which has been used for over 20 years in eliminating systemic candida and yeast without the use of dangerous drugs and ineffective diets. Preventing Candida Overgrowth from Re-Occurring Now that you are once again enjoying a healthier state of being and the synergistic balance of bacteria has been restored to your intestinal tract, it is important to understand what you need to do to ensure that you don’t become affected by this problem again in the future.

If you need to take antibiotics again, for any reason, do so if needed, but always, always, always, re-implant the healthy bacteria back into the intestines by taking high potency Acidophilus capsules for 10 days after the last day of antibiotic use. If you are female and taking birth control pills, be sure and either consume bacterial foods such as yogurt, buttermilk, or take 2 to 4 capsules of multi-source Acidophilus capsules every day. If you should develop a localized vaginal yeast infection, use three ounces of our premixed oxygen liquid together with 3 ounces of warm water and douche, holding the fluid for 5 to 10 minutes, three times per week. This will likely, catch the problem before it has the chance to spread and once again become Systemic in nature. Males, if you should develop ‘jock itch’, or other fungal type of skin condition. Wash the genital area with a three percent Hydrogen Peroxide solution, available at drug stores, before and after every intercourse.

Lastly, everyone, regardless of your age or health concerns, should be taking a Full Spectrum Nutrition product, which provides the body with at least the 122 known nutrients the body needs to maintain health and internal chemical balance. The Classic symptoms of yeast overgrowth include, digestive disturbances, diarrhea and/or constipation or altering between the two, tingling of the hands and feet, vaginal discharge, repeated vaginal yeast infections, headaches, a feeling of being disconnected with the environment, a spacey out of touch feeling, fatigue, excessive sleeping or insomnia alternating, adult onset allergies, sensitivity to smells, and many other fleeting health concerns. Since the symptoms can vary from person to person, it is important to understand that there can be potentially hundreds of symptoms linked to yeast overgrowth.
