What are the consequences of a yeast infection for men and women?

I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and told that I may have gotten it from my boyfriend, who drives trucks all day long and doesn’t always shower before coming to see me at the end of the day. He’s a very clean and hygienic man, but apparently sitting in a truck all day creates a warm, sweaty environment that can yeast infections in women. The doctor told me that he needs to use a certain spray every day for two weeks to kill the yeast cultures on his skin (very difficult to get rid of), but aside from affecting me, are there any dangers for him? Also, aside from the inconvenience, are there any other health consequences for me? Thanks!

Thanks for mentioning the drug for treating a yeast infection. I took a one-time pill and was advised that it is processed through the liver, which bothered me, but I accepted it anyway. Important to know.
Most candidial infections are treatable and result in minimal complications such as redness, itching and discomfort, though complication may be severe or fatal if left untreated in certain populations. In immunocompetent persons, candidiasis is usually a very localized infection of the skin or mucosal membranes, including the oral cavity (thrush), the pharynx or esophagus, the gastrointestinal tract, the urinary bladder, or the genitalia (vagina, penis).

Candidiasis is a very common cause of vaginal irritation, or vaginitis, and can also occur on the male genitals. In immunocompromised patients, Candida infections can affect the esophagus with the potential of becoming systemic, causing a much more serious condition, a fungemia called candidemia.
Children, mostly between the ages of three and nine years of age, can be affected by chronic mouth yeast infections, normally seen around the mouth as white patches. However, this is not a common condition.[citation needed]
Symptoms of candidiasis may vary depending on the area affected. Infection of the vagina or vulva may cause severe itching, burning, soreness, irritation, and a whitish or whitish-gray cottage cheese-like discharge, often with a curd-like appearance. These symptoms are also present in the more common bacterial vaginosis.[citation needed] In a 2002 study published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, only 33 percent of women who were self-treating for a yeast infection actually had a yeast infection, while most had either bacterial vaginosis or a mixed-type infection.Symptoms of infection of the male genitalia include red patchy sores near the head of the penis or on the foreskin, severe itching, or a burning sensation. Candidiasis of the penis can also have a white discharge, although uncommon.[citation needed] However, having no symptoms at all is common, and a more severe form of the symptoms may emerge later, even up to three months of initial contact.[citation needed]

http://bit.ly/GetYourFreeE-report – One question I get all the time from women who are get yeast infections is, “Do only women get yeast infections”?
I believe this misconception is due to the commercial industry primarily targeting women. In reality, even men can become victims of a yeast infection, although it is often referred to as “balanitis” which causes an inflammation of the head of the penis.
When men suffer from yeast infections, the symptoms are very similar to those that women experience.

Candidiasis or thrush is a fungal infection (mycosis) of any of the Candida species, of which Candida albicans is the most common.[1][2] Candidiasis encompasses infections that range from superficial, such as oral thrush and vaginitis, to systemic and potentially life-threatening diseases. Candida infections of the latter category are also referred to as candidemia and are usually confined to severely immunocompromised persons, such as cancer, transplant, and AIDS patients.

Superficial infections of skin and mucosal membranes by Candida causing local inflammation and discomfort are however common in many human populations.[2][3][4] While clearly attributable to the presence of the opportunistic pathogens of the genus Candida, candidiasis describes a number of different disease syndromes that often differ in their causes and outcomes.[2][3] Commonly referred to as a yeast infection, it is also technically known as candidosis, moniliasis, and oidiomycosis.

I can’t get rid of my urinary tract infections and yeast infections. Please help me!

I keep getting urinary tract infections and yeast infections. I drink MAYBE one pop a week. I don’t drink caffeine or hardly anything with carbonation. I drink water ALL the time, and milk. However I continue to get urinary tract infections. I don’t know why. Then when they give me antibiotics to treat it I get a yeast infection from the antibiotics and then THAT has to be treated.

So then I get that taken care of and a week or so later I have a urinary tract infection back! I am a breast-feeding mother so whatever methods I use has to be safe with breast-feeding. I have drank bottles of cranberry juice and everything. I don’t know what else to do. Nobody can figure out what it is.

However, me and my husband have unprotected sex because I am allergic to latex. He is very careful, and pulls out every single time. I understand the risk of getting pregnant, but there are no birth controls that I know of safe to take while breast-feeding. But anyway, could I be getting urinary tract infections from him? He drinks pop all day every day and he has no problems what-so-ever, but I heard that it can be present in men with no symptoms. I just don’t know what to do. Please help!

I hope you know the pull out method isn’t very effective. And you may be getting a yeast infection because his sperm is alkaline and it corrupts your vaginal PH. Men can sometimes have yeast infections when they have sex with an infected partner. Thus the infection keeps getting spread back and forth. Acidophilus of the Lactobacillius strain is proven to prevent vaginal infections and urinary infections in women. It’s safe and naturally occurring in the body. There is a blog on my profile page that you can go to to get more information. Try out the product Fem-Dophilus it is proven to work.

I was recently prescribed Augmentin to clear up a bacterial throat infection, however all the augmentin did was hurt me/not help me. It gave me a yeast infection badly. Ive never had one before this. Can he get it? and if he was to get it, would he already be showing symptoms? Its been about 4 days now. What are the symptoms for a yeast infection in a man? The same as a woman?

And how can he clear it up? (i didnt go back to the dr. (because he is a shmuck) i just got monistat 3)
btw. i did have slight discomfort the last time we had sex. then 2 days later i found out it was a yeast infection. and we are having good old fashion vaginal sex =]

yes, he can get it. if he shows signs (redness on his penis, discharge, itching) he needs to go see a doctor so they can prescribe flagyl. do not have unprotected sex with him until you are well and sure the infection is gone in BOTH of you, or else you will keep giving it back to each other, which is not good because it will get harder and harder to kill it off .

Can a man be a carrier for a yeast infection?

Before I started dating my boyfriend, I’d never had a yeast infection. Since we’ve been together (about a year), I’ve had four or five cases of yeast infection. He’s also said that in the past, his girlfriends have told him similar things, that they didn’t have problems with yeast infections before they were with him.

He takes showers every day and generally keeps pretty clean. No, he doesn’t cheat on me, so he’s not getting it from another woman.

So can a man be the cause for a yeast infection in a woman?
Most definitely. If he was intimate with another woman before you who had the yeast infection, then he can pass it on to you. If he continues to give it to you, he should be checked himself. It doesn’t matter how much he showers, if that fungus is present in him, he will pass it on to you.

If you take an antibiotic, make sure you finish all of it. That’s so important. Too many ppl don’t finish them when they start to feel better than wonder why an infection has returned. When you finish, it means the bacteria, fungus is gone. That’s why Dr’s will specify a certain amount of days because it means it takes that many days to kill off the infection no matter what it is. Good luck

More misinformation about yeast infections and candida albicans than almost any health topic. Yeast diets, candida diets, along with special herbal formulas for combating yeast and candida infections abound.
Yet after 30 years in the nutrition field, we have found very few of these to be effective. Research shows that women, following yeast diets and candida diets, obtain some relief from their symptoms, yet as soon as they go off the restricted diet, their yeast infection and candida symptoms return almost immediately. The only substance ever shown to actually destroy the candida and yeast organism on contact is oxygen. Oral oxygen has proven to be very effective in eliminating yeast infections and candida.

Candida diets do not eliminate candida or yeast. Candida diets help reduce the symptoms of candida or yeast, but will not cure the problem. When oral oxygen is used candida diets become unnecessary. Buffered oral oxygen is the only safe way to raise the oxygen levels, but you must take the right formula in order for it to be safe and effective. The Institute of Nutritional Science offers a formulation, which has been used for over 20 years in eliminating systemic candida and yeast without the use of dangerous drugs and ineffective diets. In preventing Candida Overgrowth from Re-Occurring Now that you are once again enjoying a healthier state of being and the synergistic balance of bacteria has been restored to your intestinal tract, it is important to understand what you need to do to ensure that you don’t become affected by this problem again in the future. Yeast infection in a man

my wife was diagnosed with a yeast infecton and got treatment….now i have a rash ……is there anything otc that i can get or do i need to call my dr.
Sounds like you have a yeast infection too, but take heart…it is so much easier for you to get rid of than for wife. You can use the OTC Lotrimin cream that you can buy in the “women’s” health section of your local drugstore or Walmart. Apply it thinly to your affected area, once or twice a day.
Go Here To Learn More About Candidiasis/Yeast Infection
This should take away all the nasty little yeasties. You must treat ASAP, as not doing so could cause you to reinfect your wife. Yeast infections are caused by an overproliferation of naturally occurring yeast cells, meaning that every woman has them in her vagina. Normally, the yeast cells along with help to maintain vaginal health.
Go Here To Learn More About Candidiasis/Yeast Infection
When the balance in the vaginal pH or within the naturally occurring organisms that help to maintain the health of the vagina is upset, sometimes the yeast cells proliferate (grow quickly out of control), and voila…a yeast infection. How do you get rid of or prevent future infections? They can occur after treatment with antibiotics: take away all the beneficial bacteria in the vagina (yes, there are those too…lol), allowing the yeast to grow out of control. (then you treat for yeast and can get a bacterial infection again….it can be medical ping pong.). They can occur when the pH balance is affected, for example by diet or illness.
Go Here To Learn More About Candidiasis/Yeast Infection
If the symptoms are mild, sometimes a vinegar water douche will restore the acidity needed to keep the yeast from proliferating. Some say that eating yogurt also helps to restore balance. Keeping the area clean and dry (especially easy on a man for obvious reasons…lol) will help prevent yeast from growing, as yeast needs a warm, moist environment to flourish. For a man, prevention can be as easy as aiming the blow dryer (on the cool setting) at the affected area for a few seconds until the area is completely dry after a shower or after “cleaning up” post-sex. Below is a website that will give you information about yeast infections causes and treatment. Hope this helps.

Can A Man Get A Yeast Infection?

I think maybe I only had a yeast infection once in my life, my husband told me that if I get one, then we can’t have sex, because he will get it and it is worst for guys to have it and also the treatment cost more for guys. I am not saying he is wrong, just curious and would like to know, any info will help, thanks.
Yes they can get it also!!
Yes, it is accurate; males could possibly get yeast infections as well. And not simply thrush, the by mouth yeast infection that’s typical in males who’re defense sacrificed. Males could possibly get male organ yeast infections, and also even though I’ve by no means had one myself, I find out it is not nice. Not just that, yet heterosexual partners who’ve unguaranteed sex can move yeast infections again and on forever, thus it appears just like it may be a great concept to discover much more regarding man yeast infections and acquire your boy washed up if there is cause to think he has a yeast infection of his personal.
Regrettably, there’s not a great deal of info accessible concerning penile yeast infections. I’m operating to revise this particular page, dependent on the numerous emails i have gotten coming from useful males.
